Hey ya’ll I’m back for another weekly round-up; first one of the year!
I know, I’ve been MIA lately. But there’s nothing like a new (hopefully warmer) month to get my creatives juice flowing. Work has been pretty busy and I finally feel like a good enough routine to be able to write posts on here.
Chicago Life: Unlike work, these past couple of months have been super relaxing. This past couple of months I’ve been hibernating. Tbh I loved every minute of it! I did manage to go to brunch last Saturday with my former coworkers from a few years ago. I love that we still find time to meet up and catch up. This time, we ventured out to Logan Square and had some delicious fried chicken sandwiches at Parson’s Chicken.
Steve and I went with his siblings and their significant others to dinner and then an escape room as a Christmas gift from my SIL. I was a little hesitant at first but it was so much fun! I just loved the lightbulb feeling of solving puzzles. We managed to escape but on a technically ha!
Election Day for the Chicago municipal elections happened this past Tuesday. Voter turnout was depressingly low and the person I voted for alderman (city council member) didn’t win. *womp womp* The candidate I really did not want to make the mayoral runoff lost, so I consider it a win. I love looking at the election voter data. Thankfully, WBEZ produced these awesome, interactive maps where you can view election information by PRECINCT.
What I’m Watching: I finally saw Get Out at the request of my younger sister. As she told me, Get Out is “required reading” and I completely agree! I’m not a fan of scary movies, but Get Out has the perfect combination of “woke-ness” and thrills. I also recently saw Crazy Rich Asians. I love romcoms and this one was no exception!
If you haven’t already, please check out One Day at a Time on Netflix. It’s SO good, funny, and relatable. It’s not like other cheesy Latinx shows. One Day at a Time also talks about real-life issues like immigration, addiction, PTSD, LGQBTQ+, and much more!
You can tell I’m in hibernating mode because I’ve been binging on so many good shows including Jane the Virgin! I’m rewatching the series in preparation of the fifth and final season of Jane the Virgin.
What I’m Reading:
Recent Purchases: I splurged and bought these Sam Edelman leopard loafers for 50 PERCENT OFF at Nordstrom. They’re SO cozy. I find that boots and snares are more comfortable than flats, but these loafers feels just like butter.
